Emergency and Veterinary Care Assistance
Intended to fill a small gap in funding that is keeping an animal from receiving care.
Be sure to ask if your veterinarian offers a veteran discount!
Eligibility
- Honorably discharged veteran of any U.S. Armed Service (including National Guard and Reserves.)
- Veterinarians should ask for proof of status before submitting a request for payment. (County FAVOR card, driver’s license with veteran designation, DD214, military ID card, etc.)
- Treatment must have a favorable outcome which will support a positive quality of life. Prognoses for a poor quality of life, resulting in chronic pain and discomfort, should not be referred to Woofs.
Assistance provided
- Financial support for emergency lifesaving / urgent care treatment required for an outcome supporting a positive quality of life.
- Percentage of treatment costs, TBD case-by-case and will be paid directly to veterinary service.
- $150 toward non-emergency spay or neuter
- Full spay or neuter coverage with demonstration of extreme financial need.
Conditions
Veterans are required to give veterinary permission to release treatment information and cost estimates to Woofs representative.
Excludes
- annual vaccinations and exams, flea/tick treatment
- office visit fees
- ongoing treatment or conditions (such as diabetes or chemo) or any other non-emergency treatment.
- Testing or diagnostics (x-rays, MRI, blood work, etc.) not the result of emergency care
Excludes treatment needed due to neglect or abuse of the animal by the applicant, or injuries to dogs or cats as the result of purposefully being left or housed outside.
If an animal needs immediate emergency care, the owner is responsible for seeking that immediately. There is no guarantee that Woofs will be able to provide financial assistance.
